The Vision for the Colney Hall estate is to create a world class campus of Health and Research activities on this unique site which will be complementary to the other uses on the Norwich Research Park.
South Norfolk Council published a Development Framework for the Norwich Research Park in October 2008. The new masterplan takes into account the shift in focus of possible Uses the Development Framework recognises as appropriate since the Local Plan was adopted in March 2003. A definition for the 'campus' orientation is now expressed in the cluster of uses related in addition to research and development as 'well-being / health / disability'.
Acceptable Uses are:Research and development in Environmental, Health and Life SciencesHealth-related Uses
Possible Uses are:Ancillary uses to research and developmentUses complementary to one of the four main anchor institutions of the NRP
Ancillary Uses could include:Patient hotels, recuperative / respite careEducation and training facilitiesSocial / networking and conference facilities to encourage and develop knowledge transferResidential institutions linked to research and development Uses on site, eg. short stay accommodation for scientists, suppliers etc.
